Let’s start 2017 off with the fun stuff…
Everyone wants a smaller, more defined stomach so let me show you the TOP 5 core exercises that ACTUALLY help.
I use these exercises over and over again in my training, not just because they work, but because they also;
– teach great posture
– help you define your core and abs
– help in ALL your other lifting exercise
– and if done right you can start seeing and feeling your abs in no time.
So let’s get right down to work. Also there are videos of each exercise, and exercise variation below the description, so enjoy!
1. Pushup Position Planks-
Being up in the pushup position gives you a ton of control to be able to focus on contracting your core and it’s a great exercise to working your way into more difficult plank positions. This is a must if you haven’t done a plank in a while.
2. Straight Leg Crunches
I’m a big fan of the Straight Leg Crunches because I feel that setting my legs flat on the ground takes a lot of pressure off of my low back and I can focus much better on contracting my core muscles.
3. Ab Rollouts
I don’t care if you do ab rollouts on an ab roller, swissball or with a barbell. But that movement out and back is incredibly taxing on your core and does an AWESOME job building lean abs and a strong back.
4. Rocking Planks/Body Saws
Again, you can do these on the floor, on a swissball, or (my favorites) in a suspension trainer. This plank variation will make you sore the next day guaranteed.
5. Mountain Climbers
There are a ton of variations to the mountain climber, as well. The best ones though are in a suspension trainer (TRX) or directly from the floor. This conditioning exercise will help you lean out and build muscle around your core fast.
Alright now it’s time to choose your core exercises and step up your 2017 game this year!
