When it comes to your training program it’s easy to find a program, it’s easy to find your way to the gym, it MAY even be easy for you to crush your nutrition goals for a bit. BUT the problem for so many people is that their outlook on fitness has an end point.
There is no end to getting fit.
Fitness is continuous. And the most difficult part of EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM is patience. Most of the people and athletes that I work with understand how to do squats, deadlifts, pushups. They understand that cutting out junk food, soda, and sugar will get them to lose weight and build muscle crazy fast. What most people DON’T understand though is that fitness is not a 3 month journey, it’s not even 1 or 2 year journey.
Fitness is legitimately a life long process of getting better.
Fitness is purely about getting better every day. And this is why we make SHORT TERM goals of weight loss or performance based goals (lifting more weight). Making these short term goals gives us a chance to reflect on what we’ve done to get better, or what we did that slowed our progress. Don’t use these goals as a deadline or a REASON to exercise, because that just leaves room to STOP exercising. These goals just need to be BENCHMARKS at getting better.
Fitness is about being patient.
If you’re not patient, then you need a coach. And even then, we as coaches, will constantly tell you “be patient.” If you’ve spent a lifetime being inactive and not eating properly, then you must know that it’s going to take time to reverse the effects of this kind of lifestyle. Being patient is one thing that many in the Fitness Industry don’t talk about, because everyone wants to make BIG change FAST, but the unfortunate truth is it takes time.
So, if you’re starting a program then you need to know that you HAVE to buy in and follow the plan. Patience is a requirement for success in any training program. Trust the process, because it’ll work, even if it doesn’t feel like it is sometimes, the process is still working. Just understand that it takes time, but the result of your hard work, dedication and time is more rewarding than anything you could imagine.
Are these the ONLY reasons you’re not seeing results?
